Sports Scientist & Data Analyst

Colchester United Football Club are looking for a Full time Sports Scientist & Data Analyst to join the team. Reporting to the Head of Sports Science, the role will be leading the statistical analysing of the athletic performance of our First Team and Academy Teams.

The successful candidate will provide, monitor and analyse statistical information in all areas of Athletic Performance, which includes but is not limited to physical player output, player body composition, strength and power levels, psychometric profiling and nutritional effectiveness. The role will also require the successful candidate to assist into research and insights projects, focusing on improving the development and measuring of athletic performance programme.

Role accountabilities & key duties:

  • Oversee data input and analysis of Edge 10
  • Monitor, analyse and report on the physical output of the all our professional players and teams using GPS, both in games and training
  • Monitor the body composition of all Full time players at the club, measuring the effectiveness of training loads, gym programmes and nutritional plans
  • Research into the training load- match load training thresholds, using data and statistics, to help provide an ideal training threshold model
  • Monitor and measure the effectiveness of our strength and power programmes, specifically focusing on the direct impact it has ion player performance in matches
  • Monitor and research into current and future trends relating to athletic performances of both players and teams, at all levels of the professional game

The ideal candidate will require:

  • A degree in a sports related course
  • Experience of using statistical analysis in an elite sports environment
  • High level of knowledge and proficiency in the use of data analysis systems and other technologies
  • Ability to plan, work independently and meet deadlines
  • Previous experience working in an elite sporting environment
  • Must hold a UK valid driver\'s licence

The successful candidate will be required to undergo a Disclosure & Barring Service Check (DBS).

Salary: 20k
