The Government Commercial Function is one of the largest commercial organisations operating in the UK. The diverse nature of its different departmental requirements makes its scope and range of opportunities unprecedented in the Commercial field. Working at the heart of Government you will influence and be part of how Government delivers its commercial challenges, ranging from improving capability via delivery of the Commercial Operating Standards to working with Departments on their key programmes of activity providing commercial assurance to transactions ranging from satellites to schools buildings projects.

The Commercial Continuous Improvement Team (CCIT) sits within the Government Commercial Function (GCF), reporting directly to the Government Chief Commercial Officer (GCCO). The goal of the GCF is to help drive further significant commercial efficiencies across Departments, build stronger capability and align the organisation to unlock opportunities and value for the benefit of all departments (\"Helping to drive Commercial Common Sense\"). In this way the GCF supports Departments in improving the delivery of services by external providers and value for money outcomes.

The CCIT is focused on creating and developing a continuous improvement approach across the Government Commercial Function in order to deliver year on year benefits and improvements. The team provides oversight on the delivery of Government\'s Commercial Operating Standards, strategic leadership on Government commercial assurance programmes and drives adoption across Government of relevant best practice whether identified internally or externally.

The team is a key component of the wider integrated Commercial Function alongside its peer group teams: Complex Transactions, Markets & Suppliers, and Commercial Capability Programme.

The team is looking for excellent candidates to deliver our Continuous Improvement agenda. The chosen candidate will work within a team leading the implementation and deployment of the key data systems required for the Continuous Improvement approach. Personal responsibility, the ability to identify improvement opportunities and tenacity is essential.

Role Description

Define and coordinate data collection and data cleansing as required to develop a suite of cross-government commercial reports
Monitor and produce management reports to inform senior management of the progress in fulfilling data requests
Work closely with colleagues within Cabinet Office to ensure the data is utilised appropriately and a common single view formed
Undertake analysis of the data received including providing insightful and actionable reports back to the team and wider colleagues across Cabinet Office
Supporting the team in monitoring departmental spend, benefits/impact analysis and providing internal reports for senior management and inputs into external reports (such as NAO etc.) as required
Suggesting and implementing amendments as directed to processes in relation to new Continuous Improvement processes, including supporting wider controls and outputs of Commercial Standards and Assurance

Key Accountabilities

Proactively monitor and deliver day-to-day support in the delivery of key datasets for Commercial Standards and Assurance, including the development of processes and on-going maintenance of key data (including logging, tracking and MI and production of key analysis for colleagues)
Supporting the delivery of the new Cabinet Office spend controls environment for the Commercial and Consultancy controls to service levels and in line with departmental expectations
Delivering the commercial functional dashboard, providing a single view of cross-government commercial operations
Production of planning and reporting tools for Continuous Improvement
Developing opportunities to improve data completeness, timeliness and quality
Delivery of specific initiatives/targets, including spend, efficiency, supply performance and departmental compliance

Please note that this role requires CTC clearance, which would normally require 3 years\' UK residency in the past 3 years. This is not an absolute requirement but supplementary checks may be required where individuals have not lived in the UK for the required period. This may mean that your security clearance (and therefore your appointment) will take longer or, in some cases, not be possible.
