Hybrid - travel to cinch sites as required (Manchester and London)

The Commercial Data Analyst is a key role within cinch's Data Analysis & Insights team. They are responsible for building out our intelligence-led, data informed ethos across cinch. This will include the following core objectives;

  • Providing 'best-in-class' Data Analytics capabilities to cinch, supporting the following Commercial function, which includes; Inventory, Pricing, Sales Operations, Account Management & Partnerships.
  • Work closely alongside cinch's wider Decision Intelligence teams, including; BI, Data Engineering, Digital Analytics / CRO Lead and other key stakeholders.
  • Fully leveraging the value of cinch's data, centring analytics around the; descriptive, diagnostic, predictive and prescriptive model in order to deliver critical Decision Intelligence that drives tangible, measurable business value.

what you'll be working on

  • Build strong, open & trusting working relationships with your key stakeholders within cinch's Commercial function, taking the time to understand their priorities, ensuring that these are being met.
  • Work with key stakeholders to prioritise their regular and ad-hoc reporting requirements for fortnightly sprints, ensuring these are delivered to specified requirements and within agreed timescales - ensuring the requestor(s) understands any limitations.
  • pro-active data analysis, data modelling and discovery - with a keen focus on Commercial data & KPIs (e.g. vehicle inventory levels, days to sell, stocking days, pricing, part-exchange, vehicle quality, vehicle supply & demand) in order to identify new opportunities to leverage the power of data, in order to unlock competitive advantage for cinch - whilst making recommendations from data - highlighting the "so what?" in order to drive performance.
  • Identifying common data analysis & insights requests across the functional area(s) you serve, which could be serviced by a single data product, avoiding duplication of work wherever possible.
  • Working collaboratively with cinch's BI team in order to design, develop & deploy data analysis & insight deliverables (e.g. reports, dashboards & analysis), employing data visualisation best practice & latest brand templates.
  • Working collaboratively with cinch's Data Engineering Team in order to further develop data pipelines - sourcing and ingesting additional data where appropriate to support ongoing analytics and insights, as well as to assist in maintaining the integrity of cinch's data, conducting regular reviews and data cleansing as necessary to ensure all data and reports are accurate, robust & reliable. Supporting in the identification of data quality issues in the cinch data warehouse to help drive use of accurate information by all business functions across cinch.
  • Ensure business requirements are being captured via standard processes, e.g. business issue / opportunity identification, hypothesis definition, data extraction, analytics, reporting and action implementation.

  • Be an evangelist for the cinch Decision Intelligence function and data in general across cinch, aiding to promote and enhance data literacy across the organisation.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices in the use of data and advanced analytical methods.

skills and expertise

  • Demonstrable experience as a Data Analyst, with a track record of producing data-driven insights and recommendations to various stakeholders.
  • Passionate about data analysis with strong analytical skills. Well-versed in being able to provide pro-active insights as well as data-informed recommendations to enact change.
  • Naturally inquisitive. You enjoy solving problems. Experienced at documenting your processes and explaining rationale to stand behind your recommendations.
  • Self-starter, can demonstrate & adopt a pro-active approach and take initiative with minimal supervision / guidance. Entrepreneurial mind set.
  • Strong communication skills (both written & oral). Compelling storyteller who can tailor their findings & recommendations to the intended audience(s), communicating them in succinct and inspiring ways in order to influence decision making.
  • Pro-active identification of new opportunities to leverage data for user and business advantage.
  • Experience with Python and/or R. Has an understanding of use of statistics & research designs to support with informing conclusions.
  • Demonstrable hands-on experience of with Business Intelligence / data visualisation tools (preferably Power BI, although will consider applicants with Tableau, Qlik, Looker etc).
  • Experience with SQL in extracting data from source systems, other languages are a bonus
  • Intermediary to advanced Excel knowledge (V Lookup, pivot tables, macros).
  • Strong stakeholder management, able to work effectively both independently and as a member of a cross functional team.
  • Experience of contributing to improvements in data-related processes (technical or business) used by other colleagues.
  • Good time management - ability to balance multiple tasks, and switches priority / focus as needed.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Advanced use of MS Office suite.

Beneficial but not essential:

  • Automotive market knowledge would be valuable but not a pre-requisite
  • Experience with Python and/or R
  • Experience of using JIRA or other workflow management tools
  • Experience of using Github for version control / process automation
  • Experience of using Snowflake / AWS
  • Experience with Zendesk
