Data Analyst (Audience, Subscriptions & Membership)

Blackburn, Lancashire, United Kingdom, £25,000 - £45,000 , Permanent

Posted: 2months ago

We are one of the UK\'s largest regional news publishers with over 170 titles and more than 25 million monthly online visitors. Audience and subscriber growth are core elements of our strategy as we continue to extend our digital \'paid-for experiences\' subscriber base.
To support our already impressive growth, we need an exceptional data analyst to join our product, audience & analytics team to inform product, marketing and editorial decisions across all of Newsquest.
The Role
You will understand and work across all aspects of our digital products but with a particular focus on audience acquisition (registration, subscription, membership) and first-party data collection.
You\'ll bring our readers to life through data, identifying consumption habits and preferences and you\'ll perform \'deep-dive\' data analysis to provide actionable insights that drive subscriber acquisition and retention. The role works hand to hand, day in, day out with colleagues in our Product, Subscriptions, Editorial and Commercial teams to deliver insights through data, define and provide reporting and to identify risks and opportunities.
As important as any aspect of this role, you\'ll act as an advocate for data-informed decision making, particularly with editorial teams.
Skills and experience
This role is all about our readers, so experience working in a user-centred environment, particularly with a membership or subscription element, would be highly advantageous. You are highly numerate and analytical and you excel at breaking down a problem or task. When working alone, you get on with it, when working with a team, you are proactive, collegiate and pragmatic.
Equally important are your excellent communication skills and your ability to present complex information in an easy-to-understand manner with clear, evidence-based recommendations.
A few years of solid experience with a major analytics tool such as Adobe Analytics or Google Analytics is a given. Other skills that would be extremely advantageous...
* High proficiency with a BI tool such as PowerBI, Tableau, Qlikview or similar
* A thorough understanding of relational databases and the ability to write SQL select queries
* An expert user and a big fan of Excel
* Coding experience in a relevant language such as Python or R
* Experience working in a publishing environment would be advantageous
The role can be based in any of a selection of our offices (preferably London (Holborn), Blackburn or Glasgow), but could also be predominantly remote (home working).
Newsquest is committed to encouraging diversity throughout its workforce. Our diversity programme encourages a workforce that reflects local demographics and provides equality and fairness for all who work for us
