Data Analyst - BI - Actuarial - Engineer - Insurance

The role:

Working within the Actuarial team, lead the build and enhancement of data driven products that support the provision of value-adding analytics and insight in respect of pricing, risk selection, portfolio management and reserving of insurance products.

Actuarial Data Infrastructure

• To be responsible for setting the direction of the development and maintenance of the core Actuarial data architecture which underlies the Group\'s suite of underwriting analysis tools
• To oversee the build of new and development of existing data models, ensuring the high levels of robustness, fitness for purpose and optimality of performance
• To oversee the investigation and lead resolution of emerging issues with underlying Actuarial data systems and models when these arise
• To ensure all Actuarial data systems and models are documented in line with departmental standards

Data Ingestion

• To lead the investigation of opportunities to extract data from non-standard sources (eg external, unstructured) as required to enhance pricing and portfolio management decisions for the business
• To integrate new data sources into data library including structuring and validation.

Data Visualisation

• To oversee the development of data visualisation initiatives including design, build and maintenance ensuring they meet business requirements and user needs.
• Obtained a relevant, numerate degree with a good overall grade.
• Knowledge of Management Information Systems (preferably within the insurance/financial services industry) and BI software
• Proven experience of designing, implementing and optimising database structures to ensure data is organised robustly and effectively across the environment
• Excellent knowledge of SQL (or other similar languages), Visual Studio, R, Python etc
• Experience with cloud technologies
• Ability to write deliverables and reports in a clear, concise and appropriate way and communicate them
