BI Analyst

Newcastle or Remote

to £45,000

Having completed Series B funding at the start of the year, a growing fintech has an opportunity for a Data Analyst (BI-focus) to join them.

As the first Data Analyst you'll have access to a rich and fascinating data set which you'll leverage to generate insights (both retrospective and predictive) that will help the company grow from half a million to one million customers.

The Role

* Generate management information to inform decision making using BI tools.

* Maintain and support data analytics platforms such as SQL Server and Power BI, as well as designing and building dashboards.

* Interrogation of data and processes to identify strategic areas for improvement to business operations and in support of our growth plans.

* Liaise with other areas of the business to identify data sources and prepare data for use in BI outputs.

* Build and maintain effective relationships with the Product, Marketing and Strategy teams to ensure information requirements are delivered in accordance with business needs and future Business Intelligence requirements.

* Support the delivery of any analytical activities and contribute to projects, business improvement & change initiatives.

* Perform regression analyses to pick out signals from noise.

* Regular cohort analysis to help understand changes in customer lifetime value, among other things.

* Analysis of churn and reactivation patterns to help us keep customers for as long as possible.

* Packaging analytical projects into neat, digestible presentations with clear action points.

* Sharing your experience with the team and training junior colleagues.

* Helping with ad hoc data requests from across the team.

* Working with the Engineering team to integrate new data sources into our reporting suite and improve our code base.

The Candidate

* SQL experience is essential - you will be using it daily. Ideally you will have worked with large, disparate data sets.

* Advanced ability in analysing data using Excel/VBA.

* A strong degree in a numerate discipline, or equivalent professional experience (you need to be comfortable with statistics).

* Commercially savvy with a track record of delivering analysis that increases revenue, reduces cost, or reduces churn.

* Track record of taking ownership of analytical projects from end-to-end, often with little or no supervision.

* Programming (R/Python) experience strongly preferred.

* Experience with data visualisation software, preferably Power BI.

* Team leadership experience would be a bonus, but we're also keen to speak to people without this experience who want to step up
