I am currently searching for an experienced Data Analyst to be responsible for the maintenance and supporting the existing data team. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in data analysis, enjoys projects and has a keen eye for detail to implement efficiencies. The role is a 12 month FTC (fixed term contract) paying between £65-£75K the role is remote working for now however when things get back to normal there might be the occasional site visit (Birmingham or London)

Duties include:

  • Interpreting data and analysing results using statistical techniques and provide ongoing reports
  • Working with technical teams to develop and implement databases, data collection systems, data analytics and other strategies for the Investment team
  • Acquire data from primary or secondary Investment data sources and provide that data for upload into the asset module of the Beazley internal Solvency II capital model in line with requirements defined by the Internal Capital Modelling team.
  • Support MI and reporting projects for both the Investment team and other teams who wish to use the data in the Investment team's data domain by identifying, interpreting and cleansing the relevant data to meet the MI use case.
  • Identify, analyse, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets
  • Work with the Investment team to prioritise business and information needs
  • Locate and define new process improvement opportunities
  • Ensure that all data provision and reporting activity is done in alignment to clients data management principles
  • Be a proficient user of reporting tools and support the use of these within the Investment team to meet their information requirement

Key Responsibilities

  • Management of the investment database (SQL);
  • Power BI for reporting
  • Maintain and develop the database to ensure accurate records of investment dispositions.
  • Management of the asset module of the clients internal model (via R);
  • Update of quarterly ESG calibration data, provided by third party (Moody's).
  • Manage and control mapping of asset disposition data to SG outputs including the development of additional modelling functionality for non-standard assets.
  • Run and develop the asset module as required to meet the internal model requirements of the capital team.
  • Ensure daily uploads of all investment team processes are complete and without error.
  • Review and optimise processes for movement of data between systems used by the investment team (Bloomberg, Clearwater, Investment Database, S & P).
  • Develop an understanding of Power BI to assist in setting up and running of stakeholder reporting.
  • Management of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) data for analysis and reporting.
  • Responsibility for new data management initiatives within the investment team
  • Useful computer experience: strong excel skills, R, understanding of databases (SQL)

  • Comply with clients procedures, policies and regulations relevant to your role. Undertake relevant training on clients policies and procedures as delivered by your line manager, the Talent Management development or assurance teams (compliance, risk, internal audit) either directly, via E-learning or the learning management system.
  • Comply with any specific responsibilities necessary for your role as outlined by your line manager, the Talent Management development or assurance teams (compliance, risk, internal audit) and ensure you keep up to date with developments in these areas. This may include, amongst others, client's underwriting control standards, clients claims control standards, other standards and customer relationship management.
  • Ensure that you uphold principle of Treating Customers Fairly
  • Carry out additional responsibilities as individually notified, either through your objectives or through the learning management system. These may include, among others, European Strategy Team, US Management team or membership of any committees.

Personal Specification:

Education and Qualifications

  • Degree level or equivalent

Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent computer skills.
  • SQL or R coding experience preferable
  • Exposure to Bloomberg, Clearwater, Moody's SG or S&P would be helpful.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Knowledge and Experience

  • Experience of investment or insurance related projects.
