Data Analyst/Insight Analyst/BI Analyst - SQL, Excel, Python, Tableau, Alteryx


You will be based out of our client's Portsmouth office, with the option of working from home 2/3 days per week.

£35,000 - £45,000 plus benefits

Sentinel are working with a leading employer in Hampshire that is seeking a Data Insight Analyst to join their data & Analytics team. The position would suit a passionate Insight Analyst with previous experience of working with a variety of data and analytics products, techniques and tooling.

Skills & Experience:

We are looking for someone that has a strong mix of the following skills and experience:

  • Strong SQL programming skills and some experience of programming in Python are a must for this role, as well as expert level Excel skills.
  • Demonstrable experience of the following: Using a range of tools and techniques for report building, ad-hoc queries and data mining, data analysis, profiling, cleaning, transforming, enrichment, and modelling.
  • Working with diverse and complex data sets and a range of different data types
  • Data transformation and data preparation using tooling such as Tableau Prep, Alteryx, or Python.
  • Developing interactive dashboards that are simple and intuitive using modern data visualisation tools - strong Tableau experience would be a plus
  • Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) practises relevant to Data Analytics products
  • Training, coaching and mentoring others


You'll report directly to the Head of Data & Analytics and be responsible for:

  • Supporting and maintaining existing data and analytics products and services.
  • Deliver new data and analytics products using a variety of analytics tooling and techniques. This will include the full range of data analytics products: raw dataset, cleaned datasets, management information reports, self-service dashboards, statistical analysis, and optimisation modelling.
  • Requirements gathering, analysis, design, development, testing and release.
  • Training, coaching, and disseminating best practice to help establish a collaborative community of Data & Analytics excellence across the business
  • Championing self-serve analytics, driving adoption, and supporting enablement of business teams to be more self-sufficient in meeting their Data & Analytics requirements.
