Data Analyst

We are currently recruiting for a Data Analyst within the Information Management & Information Technology (IM&IT) function. You will provide support to the Analytics Manager across a wide range of projects
This is an exciting and diverse function that employs professionals from information management, information technology, information assurance and cyber security.The role offers the opportunity to work within a diverse and multi-disciplined team within the Submarine Delivery Agency (SDA).
You will work under the ambitious Business Intelligence and Analytics programme acting at the forefront of innovation. You will be involved in areas such as Date Warehousing/Extract Transform Load processing, visual analytics, predictive analytics and machine learning. Additionally you will be pivotal in supporting a portfolio of analytics projects across many functions, identifying relevant technology and developing strategies for implementation.
Responsibilities for SDA Data Analyst
* Gather, analyse, explore and visualise the data to present the 'story' of the data in a meaningful way.
* Build credible statistical models from the data and use best coding practices to generate reproducible work.
* Responsible for identifying complex business problems whilst leveraging data value, use an evolving range of data analysis tools
* Support the development and application of the data governance processes.
* Validate, store, process and protect data in order to make it reliable, highlighting any discrepancies and ensuring it is accessible to users in a secure authorised way.
* Identify patterns and trends to share insights with the team to inform business decisions.
* Advise application development team members on the details of data structures, associated components and methods of extraction.
* Regularly use intellectual curiosity to explore data, models and software applications to support data mining and more efficient data manipulation and visualisation.
* Work collaboratively with team members and actively grow your analytical and data handling knowledge.
* Be an active part of the MI & Data Analytics community, attend meetings and participate in working groups.
* Perform FDO role to improve capability within the function and participate in other function improvement activities.
What you will be assessed against
To be found successful you must demonstrate the following essential criteria:
* Experience of analysis of data or production of management information in an organisation.
* Experience with PowerBI or similar tools
