Job Purpose
ISG's vision is to become a data driven business, where data plays a central role in all decisions that support and promote the Corporate Goals of the business which includes the drive to support Optimal Operational Efficiency.
The overall purpose of this role is to work with the business to move ISG to a position to ensure where data which is stored in multiple systems, it is held in a consistent manner to enable us to develop and provide information that improves our overall Operational Efficiency.
The data analyst will undertake a review of the data, provide reports for the data standardisation and propose automation processes to make the collection and review of data within ISG as efficient as possible.
They will also assist in the long-term focus of setting a data strategy, to enable application of data mining techniques, doing statistical analysis, and building high quality prediction systems integrated with all ISG's products.
Key Responsibilities
Devise, develop, and deploy required data queries in response to business user needs.
In conjunction with data owners and department managers, develop data models and protocols for mining data.
Data mining using state-of-the-art methods
Extending company's data with third party sources of information when needed
Enhancing data collection procedures to include information that is relevant for building analytic systems
Processing, cleansing, and verifying the integrity of data used for analysis
Doing ad-hoc analysis and presenting results in a clear manner
Creating automated anomaly detection systems and constant tracking of its performance
Identify research questions, problem solve using data analysis, and communicate the results to various stakeholders
Provide and apply quality assurance best practices for data analysis services across the organization.
Develop, implement, and maintain change control processes for modifications to data models.
Develop routines for end users to facilitate best-practice use of data management tools.
Collaborate with database and disaster recovery administrators to ensure effective protection and integrity of data assets.
Analyse Key Performance Metric data for the purposes of improving business performance.
Assisting in setting a data strategy for the overall ISG business including a review of existing tools and data sets
Essential Skills and Qualifications
Strong understanding of data models, structures, theories, principles, and practices
Strong familiarity with data preparation, processing, classification, and forecasting.
Working technical experience with relational database servers, including MS SQL.
Excellent understanding of machine learning techniques and algorithms, such as k-NN, Naive Bayes, SVM, Decision Forests, etc.
Experience with data visualisation tools including Power BI.
Proficiency in using query languages such as SQL, Hive, Pig
Experience with common data science toolkits, such as R, Weka, NumPy, MatLab, etc. Excellence in at least one of these is highly desirable
Great communication skills
Good applied statistics skills, such as distributions, statistical testing, regression, etc.
Good scripting and programming skills
Data-oriented personality
College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science or statistics, and/or 5 years of equivalent work experience.
Experience in the Construction Industry would be preferable but not essential
