THE ROLE

Procurement & Commercial (P&C) are undergoing a significant growth of the function and are recruiting for several new roles. It's an exciting time to be involved in the formation of the team, propose ideas, develop methods and strategies to achieve our objectives. You will have the autonomy to use your initiative to improve efficiencies and ways of working as SGN embarks on the OFGEM GD2 five-year price control period. P&C are ultimately responsible for delivering best value on the annual £500+m of third party spend and P&C will have a significant role to play.

This exciting opportunity has arisen for an accomplished Data Analyst to join our team. Reporting to the Lead Standards and P2P Manager the successful applicant will be responsible for the management and delivery of the data analytics and reporting requirements across the Procurement function, providing a high-quality data reporting service used by buyers, category managers, department heads and directors to understand activities within their areas. Accuracy, consistency, clarity and timeliness are key aspects of the role, along with a necessity to drive insights through data interrogation and problem solving. Additionally, there will be work on developing new services, process improvement, plus regular user training.

Key responsibilities will include;

  • Building effective relationships with colleagues in the wider business to ensure the SSC delivers efficiently
  • Developing stakeholder relationships with lean/continuous improvement principles in mind, minimising personal contact and encouraging self-service where feasible
  • Ensuring both internal and external requests for data analytics and reporting are dealt with quickly and efficiently
  • Supporting maintenance of the procurement systems
  • Producing management information on activity within the procurement systems to monitor and manage the frequency, value and volume of spend, contract usage/leakage, savings, work in progress
  • Delivering operational reporting requirements in a timely and accurate manner
  • Providing guidance or training to users of the Purchasing and P2P systems in accessing or reporting data
  • Highlighting and communicating compliance issues to Procurement Systems & Analytics Manager

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

The job holder will be required to have a degree in a quantitative subject, such as statistics, mathematics, engineering, finance, or economics. Other academic backgrounds will be also considered where strong numeracy can be demonstrated.
