Overview:

Presently, the Air Insights Programme is undergoing transition, seeking to improve on their Data Strategy by modernising their data landscape. With an involving market and stronger competitors, this is an essential overhaul to enable BAE Systems to continue being recognised as the key player in the Aerospace / Defence sector.

The team are presently strong in the data visualisation space, ensuring a quick and effective turnover of results, but this requirement is to strengthen the knowledge base on the data infrastructure and data management side of the programme. As such, the successful candidate will possess a strong understanding of what data means to a business and how building and automating appropriate data solutions is key to supporting areas such as MI and Advanced Analytics

Essential Criteria:
Experience in using SSIS as a primary ETL tool
Experience in creating reusable pipelines to support data ingestion from multiple sources
Experience creating complex SQL queries
Performance tuning and error handling within SQL and SSIS
Dimensional Modelling Experience (Kimball / Inmon)
Power BI
Self-Serve
Agile Methodology experience
Documentation Design Standards

Desirable Criteria:
An affinity to an object-oriented language (C#, Python etc.)
CI/CD Concepts
Azure DevOps or Jira Knowledge
Aerospace, Defence, or Financial sector background

Desirable Qualifications:
ITIL foundation and either appropriate ITIL Intermediate or other appropriate capability training
Knowledge of working within a SIAM operating model would be beneficial
Relevant vocational qualification or equivalent experience (e.g. HNC / Prince 2 Foundations / Computer Science Degree)

Competencies:

Data Governance
Good understanding of the principles of Data Governance.
Experience developing and operating within Data Governance procedures and processes.

Data Architecture
Experience developing information aspects of a coherent, integrated Enterprise Architecture.
Experience developing a multifaceted, layered Enterprise Data Model in complex, data-intensive environments.

Data Modelling and Design
Good information and data modelling skills across Conceptual, Logical, and Physical specifications.
Experience in relevant modelling languages such as UML, SysML, and ArchiMate.
Experience in relevant domain Standards such as ISO 10303:239 (PLCS), the ASD S-Series ILS Specifications, and OAGIS.

Data Storage and Operations
Experience with a variety of Data Storage technologies.

Data Security
Experience operating with sensitive data in collaborative, international programmes.
Experience defining the Data Security requirement within the context of the Data Architecture.

Data Integration and Interoperability
Experience defining and integrating Data Integration solutions within the context of the Data Architecture.
Experience with ETL, API Management, and Data Virtualization technologies.

Document and Content Management
Experience defining and integrating approaches to unstructured Data Management within the context of the Data Architecture.
Experience with Document and Content Management technologies.

Reference and Master Data Management
Experience defining and integrating Reference and Master Data Management solutions within the context of the Data Architecture.
Experience with Reference and Master Data Management technologies.

Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence
Experience defining and integrating Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence solutions within the context of the Data Architecture.
Experience with Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence technologies.

Metadata Management
Experience defining taxonomies and ontologies.
Experience with relevant Semantic Web Standards such as OWL, RDF, LDP.
Experience with Metadata Management and Semantic technologies.

Data Quality
Experience operating on Data Quality improvement programmes.
Experience defining the Data Quality requirement within the context of the Data Architecture.
Experience defining and integrating Data Quality solutions within the context of the Data Architecture.

All candidates must be based in and eligible to work in the UK.
