We are looking for a Data Analyst to join our tight-nit Data Platform team, which currently comprises three engineers, a data analyst, two data scientists and a principal. We strive at all times to ensure that our team is more than the sum of it's parts and is a highly collaborative and supportive environment in which to work.

A little about the role

The role will be responsible for expanding our ability to enable cross functional teams within PrimaryBid to make data-driven decisions. The ideal candidate must be passionate about data, and using that data to improve & inform business strategy. You should be a true team player, self-directed and comfortable supporting the data needs of multiple teams, products, partnering closely with other relevant stakeholders including engineering, infrastructure, product, commercial, capital markets and C-Suite.

Key Responsibilities

Design and implement strategies for BI tool configuration (Looker) that optimises provision of actionable insights into customer acquisition, operational efficiency and other key business performance metrics.
Build robust data models, reports and visualisations that support individual PrimaryBid departments in monitoring their performance.
Collect, analyse, and disseminate information and analysis on PrimaryBid's operational performance and service levels.
Provide key stakeholders across the business with self-service dashboards for real time understanding of the metrics you have created, using Looker.
Contribute to requirement/specification authoring relating to data-related projects.

You will be successful in the role if:

4+ years of experience in a Data Analyst role, who has attained an a degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Informatics, Information Systems or another quantitative field.
Advanced working SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, complex query authoring.
A thorough understanding of the ethics of gathering and working with data
Proficiency in Python or R.
Thorough: you are methodical and consider the full-picture, and understand that details matter.
Calm: you're positive under pressure and happy to take the lead in challenging times.
An excellent communicator who can explain nuances of data to people in other roles and understand other people's perspectives and priorities.
Humble: you acknowledge your strengths, and also your weaknesses; you work for more than your own personal glory.
Prior experience in a FinTech role or experience in working with Financial transaction data would be beneficial.

A day in the life of a data analyst

Every day is different and depending on the day of the month, different stakeholders will have varying requirements. Our stakeholders will include all areas & all levels of employees who have differing levels of data literacy. Analysis (exploring, tracing and cleansing) data is the central part of the role and we have a continuing open dialogue with the whole business to ensure that the data is fit-for-purpose. We run regular firm-wide training sessions on how to effectively use our BI analytics platform which requires us to constantly be updating our knowledge about the tooling and new/existing data source in order to keep the business up to speed with new data capabilities.
