Econometrician / Statistician

We currently have an opportunity available for an Econometrician / Statistician to join our team working in Exeter. You will join us on a full-time, permanent basis, and in return, you will receive a competitive salary of circa £25,000 per annum dependent on experience, plus benefits.

About the role:

This is a fantastic opportunity to utilise your knowledge of statistical analysis and statistical modelling skills, by supporting the Regulation team with economic and econometric analyses and insights. With a "can do" attitude blended with your strong interpersonal skills, you will provide economic advice to help the company communicate effectively with the economic regulator, maximise its performance within the water sector and support the business in delivering its strategic business planning and objectives.

What you will be doing:

Applying a range of economic skills and techniques such as regulatory economics, econometrics, corporate finance and behavioural economics

Assessing and critiquing the economic methods adopted by the economic regulator as part of the regulation of water companies, including economic incentive design, efficiency analyses/comparative performance analyses, economic valuation and cost-benefit analyses, econometric forecasting, policy development and economic regulatory impact assessments

Monitoring and assessing the level of competition in the market, and conducting economic analyses around future competition opportunities

Communicating regulatory economic and competition insights to the company and stakeholders as appropriate

What we are looking for:

Educated to degree level in economics, econometrics or statistics

Econometric modelling and/or statistics skills, with training to conduct and appraise econometric analyses

Knowledge of statistical analysis and statistical modelling with Excel or other methods

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Well developed analytical and problem-solving skills

Prioritisation skills, with the ability to manage multiple strands of work at the same time

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate across the business and build key working relationships

An excellent attention to detail with the ability to consistently deliver accurate and timely information

A "Can do" attitude with a desire to learn and understand the business and use this to provide the best customer service
