This role will work closely with Exertis Legal & Compliance, HR and Health Safety and Environmental leadership and the Exertis businesses to provide superior research, due diligence, analysis, records creation and management and report writing across the Sustainability pillars. There will be duties external to the Exertis Sustainability Programme required on an ad hoc project basis.

The right candidate will be offered a fully funded Level 4 - 7 Data Science apprenticeship from a leading training provider with protected study time to support their work and personal development, depending on prior experience and technical level covering key data scientist skills.

Key responsibilities

Sustainability

• Serve as data subject-matter-expert to find, analyse, and present data against the metrics under the four pillars of the Internal Sustainability Reporting Framework.
• Identify, collect, cleanse, and normalise relevant data from multiple sources across the Exertis Group businesses using automated processes and modern data science techniques to build bespoke reports and analytics for the quarterly meetings of the DCC Technology Sustainability Committee.
• In conjunction with the Exertis Group Head of Business Intelligence assess the effectiveness of data sources and data-gathering techniques and continuously improve data quality and collection methods. Liaising with existing DCC and DCCT data teams to leverage existing data and reporting infrastructure.
• Establish strong working relationships with the Exertis Group Head of Business Intelligence, the Chairs of the divisional Councils (in particular the Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) and Health Safety & Environmental (HSE) Councils), the Associate General Counsel and relevant cross-functional leaders in the operating businesses worldwide involved in activities impacting Sustainability.

Group Data Science Projects

• Support on ad hoc data science projects for the global Exertis businesses including reporting, data cleansing and manipulation / automation, BI tool creation, unstructured data analysis (survey data), and forecasting.
• Maintenance of the shared data science server and virtual machine. Automated process scheduling and monitoring, maintaining appropriate standards of project tracking and documentation.

• You will be supported to quickly learn the business with developmental care on a regular basis from senior leaders as part of a team which values learning, mutual support, and excellence.

Skills & Experience

Essential

• Strong data collection, analysis, reporting and presentation skills
• Strong research, due diligence, risk assessment and documentation skills
• Excellent English language communication skills (written and spoken)
• Familiarity with data manipulation in Microsoft Excel using pivot tables, lookup functions

Desirable

• Bachelor's Degree in Math/Sciences, Data Science, Statistics or other relevant discipline (minimum 2:1 class, 3.5 GPA or equivalent)
• Prior experience in Data Science/Analytics with some knowledge of Python, R, SQL or other relevant coding languages
• Prior experience in the technology sector, including technology distribution
• One or more European language skills(s) (French, Dutch, German, Spanish or Swedish in particular)
