Graduate Systems & Data Analyst

£20,000 - £24,000

Our client is looking for a Graduate Systems and Data Analyst to join the company and play a key part in a major systems project, following an initial period of orientation. The company is moving to a market leading software system in the next 3 months and this is an exciting opportunity for the right individual to help the company achieve this significant goal and to develop their own skills. You may have recently graduated in the last 24 months or recently re-trained in the IT industry. This role could lead to a Systems and Data Manager position within the business.

Fundamental responsibilities include:

  • familiarisation with various aspects of the business and the existing suite of in house systems
  • management reporting (for example, sales analysis, costs analysis, ad hoc requests)
  • creation and maintenance of interactive PDF forms, used across the business
  • involvement in audits to continually improve the business; maintenance of process flowcharts.
  • familiarisation with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central (training available)
  • the development of good working relationships with key departments and with the new system provider
  • the mapping of business functions to system modules and assistance in the development of new processes and workflows, where required
  • assistance with the definition and specification of bespoke elements, working alongside the new system provider
  • the creation and execution of system tests, liaising with the system provider, as required
  • the specification of data mapping for migration and the preparation of extracts of historic data
  • the provision of post implementation support.

Future responsibilities will evolve but could include:

  • the creation of a post implementation systems administrator role
  • the development of change control procedures and documentation templates for future maintenance
  • the development of web-based lift specification using HTML or similar.

Knowledge & Experience Required

  • Excel: a comprehensive knowledge is required, including formulae, pivot tables, charts. Knowledge of power pivot and SQL is desirable.
  • Adobe Acrobat Pro: a comprehensive knowledge of creating and maintaining interactive PDF forms, plus familiarity with Javascript, as used within Adobe forms.
  • Systems development experience: experience of working in/on various business systems
  • Knowledge of data modelling techniques, mapping and migration; this need not be extensive but an awareness of the issues is required

The successful candidate will be:

  • a business or systems analyst who wishes to build on their development experience
  • possibly a recent graduate with analysis or data modelling experience
  • perhaps someone who has retrained in IT and has relevant business knowledge
  • you have proven analytical skills and can give examples of roles undertaken on IT projects
  • you are interested in developing your understanding of ERP systems, such as Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central or similar
  • you are logical, with a passion to improve business processes
  • you are rigorous and understand the need for accuracy and precision, for example in data set-up, reporting, specification documents and version control
  • you work well as part of a team and understand the benefits of working collaboratively to reach an end goal
  • you thrive on solving problems and can accept the challenges needed to deliver a project such as this.
