The role of the Junior Data Analyst is to take ownership and responsibility for shaping the bigger picture by delivering reports & analysis that support the business needs to the agreed time-scales and quality. The candidate must have an agile and iterative approach to requirement elicitation. Focus must be on increasing quality, higher productivity, improved stakeholder engagement and satisfaction, and the provision of useful insight to business needs. The Junior Data Analyst is an integral member of the Trading Team, established to control & improve the sales function whilst implementing a profitability mind-set across the business. With this in mind, the Junior Data Analyst is also required to actively contribute to the development of new & existing analysis tools and techniques.

Responsibilities include:

  • Work with the business to input to the definition of the desired business outcome, opportunity, its context and desired future state and vision.
  • Manage a suite of weekly & monthly management information reports.
  • Be responsible for understanding, analysing and interpreting business requirements and needs. Identify appropriate, effective and efficient solutions.
  • Identify improvements in existing analysis tools & work to create new and more effective analysis.
  • Take ownership and responsibility for developing and delivering the detailed business requirements to support the solution.
  • Deliver requirements to a high quality standard and follow best practice.
  • Work closely with the Trading Desk to provide an effective & collaborative business function.
  • Contribute to best practice and play a role in setting the standard for data analysis at HSS.

Essential:

  • Experience on MS Office products, primarily Excel & Access.
  • Highly organised and action-focused with ability to meet internal deadlines, works well under pressure
  • Tenacious, able to demonstrate repeated effort and resilience when overcoming a number of obstacles to achieve a result
  • Resourceful
  • Flexible, willing to adapt thinking and behaviour to suit the requirements of different situations.
  • Approachable and able to command respect and trust
  • Ability to motivate and encourage others.
  • Excellent problem solving skills and methods

Desirable

  • Prior experience in an Analysis role.
  • Experience using Essbase, OBI and OLAP Cubes.
