Key Responsibilities:

Using Power BI to create, develop and improve the dashboards within the GCF Reporting Suite to transform data into valuable insight for senior managers, the wider Cabinet Office and Departments.

Analyse data from a range of sources and systems from across Government, providing insightful and actionable reports back to the team and wider colleagues across Cabinet Office.

Coordinate data collection and data cleansing to develop a suite of innovative cross-government commercial reports.

Conducting deep-dive analysis into the why' behind the trends, providing concise summaries and recommendations based on the insights uncovered.

Identifying innovative ways of communicating insights to less technical stakeholders. This could include infographics, dashboards, interactive visualisations and blogs.

Suggesting and implementing improvements in the way Government uses data to inform commercial decisions.

Developing opportunities to improve data completeness, timeliness and quality.

Responding to commercial data requests from senior stakeholders within the Government Commercial Function.

Supporting the team in monitoring departmental spend, benefits/impact analysis and providing internal reports for senior management and inputs into external reports (such as NAO etc.) as required.


Highly numerate, analytical and technically skilled.

Possess a good knowledge of Power BI, Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets and PowerPoint.

A degree-level qualification at undergraduate level in a numerate discipline such as computer science, maths, accounting etc.

Possess a passion for data manipulation and finding trends in data.

Understand best practice data visualisation principles.

Demonstrable ability to problem solve using open source tools such as Python, R and/or web frameworks.

Be a good communicator, and confident in dealing with internal and external stakeholders across all levels including Senior Management.

Demonstrable experience in requirements gathering and working with wider business stakeholders to produce a scope of work for analysis projects.

Desirable skills:

Understanding of advanced analytics solutions (NLP, Machine Learning, statistical analysis, predictive analytics) including R or Python.

A high level understanding of the Azure analytics platform including Databricks, Data factory, Data Lake, Analysis services and Power BI. Experience in any of these areas would be highly desirable.

A high level understanding of full-stack application development using open source software, including API/microservice creation would be highly desirable.
