Market Data Analyst - 1st /2nd Line Support

Business Justification

Market Data Technology & Services (MDT&S) is used by the Global Markets LOB for real-time market data. The platforms are critical to the bank\'s ability to trade and price to clients. The MDT&S Operations team provides support in the following areas:

  1. Escalated support for Trading desks and application development support teams
  2. Supporting mandatory exchange driven changes (approx 24 per year)
  3. Continual service improvements, capacity planning
  4. Maintain the environment in line with GIS policies wrt, D/NPT plus patching processes

This is a temp/contractor role, required to maintain an acceptable level of support across the shift pattern and mandated work load, during a period when project work is also demanding the team\'s resources.

Hours; Shift (early 7-3pm) (late10-6pm) rotate pattern each week

Market Data Technology & Services (MDT&S), is a function within Technology Infrastructure, responsible for the full product lifecycle for News, Real-time, Reference and Index data across the firm.

Organised globally MDT&S consists of the following departments:

  • Business Advisory & Inventory management
  • Technical Engineering & Development
  • Technical Operations
  • Service Delivery

Technical Operations are responsible for full production life cycle for all Market Data applications and infrastructure. The team\'s goal is to ensure a reliable, highly performant market data service that can be used by all business groups to facilitate the dissemination of pricing data globally in the firm. The key objective for technical operations is developing a culture and practice of continuous improvement across the services that we provide.

The new hire will be a member of the EMEA Technical operations team, based in London. And will play a key role in this six man team supporting a variety of applications, platforms and operating systems. The candidate must have hands on experience of Market data technology, within an investment banking environment. The position will involve working closely with peers across Trading desks, applications development and technology infrastructure. Communication across and up the organisation is a key aspect of this role.

Core Responsibilities

  • 1st Line/2nd support for all Market Data platforms. The main focus will be on the Low Latency Platform (LLP) (Wombat/SR Labs), and Thomson Reuters TREP.
  • Supporting and implementing exchange driven changes (EDCs) as required
  • Providing escalated support for Trading desks and application teams.
  • Collaboration with global team colleagues
  • This role requires commitment to work within a shift rota, including early late,

This role requires the following core technical skills:

  • Thorough knowledge of Market Data Distribution technologies (eXegy, Wombat/SR Labs, Reuters, Bloomberg)
  • Strong knowledge of consolidated and direct feeds - low latency platform Reuters/Bloomberg - wombat/SR Labs
  • Experience in market data content from multiple providers. Different sources of data eg Bloombergs - so wider knowledge different mkt data tech really
  • Good knowledge of network technologies (TCP/IP, UDP, Multicast, Routing Protocols, Security)
  • Good working knowledge of Redhat Linux and Windows operating environments
  • Experience in financial market applications, exchange data and internal trading flows
  • Excellent scripting ability (Perl, Bash, Python) one of these skills
