ROLE OBJECTIVES

Your role will mainly be project-based and will likely involve data visualization and statistics (we use Python for most of our work). Projects are likely to involve electricity pricing and risk modelling. Around 20% of your time will be around supporting day-to-day pricing, and this will give you exposure to existing pricing models and customer needs.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Most of your work will be project work which will be focussed around commodity pricing (gas and electricity) and associated risk premia. This will include:
    • Support management in identifying, prioritizing, and planning projects;
    • Take a lead role in delivering change;
    • Develop statistical models (our code of choice is Python);
    • Work with business to understand & use projects.
  • You will have day to day pricing operational responsibility. This will include:
    • Issue commodity price curves, based on the latest market prices & volatility;
    • Update SME matrix prices;
    • Update risk premiums, using the simulation-based model;
    • Provide bespoke risk premiums;
    • Respond to queries about pricing accuracy/service;
    • Support colleagues & customers.
  • To be aware of and comply with all company policies and procedures, including but not limited to the Gazprom Energy Data Protection policy, Equal Opportunities policy, and the Email and Internet Acceptable Usage Policy, in addition to Fire and Health and Safety Regulations.
  • The role holder may also be required to carry out any other duties within the scope and purpose of this role as requested by their line manager and in line with business needs.
SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
  • Essential skills and abilities:
    • Technical writing;
  • Desirable skills:
    • Project management and delivery lifecycle.
EXPERIENCE
  • Essential knowledge and experience:
    • Experience in Python (competent user);
    • Experience in SQL (basic usage);
    • Knowledge of statistical mathematics and probability.
  • Desirable knowledge and experience:
    • Experience in MS Excel/VBA;
    • Previous commercial/financial/energy experience;
    • Using BI software and developing data visualisation.
EDUCATION
  • The minimum academic requirement is a B at A-level or equivalent in mathematics.
  • A degree in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Physics, or Mathematics is desirable.
