Sue Hill Recruitment have been instructed by our client, who provides technical standards on products and services to businesses within the UK whilst also operating globally to help improve performance, reduce risk and achieve sustainable growth. They are presently recruiting for a Research and Data Analyst to join their team on a 6-month fixed term contract to focus on the delivery of commercial research projects for which require strong data analysis skills and visualisation skills.

What you'll be doing

The jobholder will be involved in cross-business collaboration to ensure that knowledge acquired from research activities is shared effectively across the division and more widely, if appropriate. The jobholder will work with the Research, Data and Analytics Manager to identify and implement improvements to the research services in order to respond to emerging client needs.

The role will provide an interesting and varied workload including conducting research and analysis across a range of areas of emergent technology and innovation.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

The role will involve a number of areas of work. These are as follows:

  • Commissioned research service delivery and provision of research services as part of a broader cross-functional team and as part an overall solution for individual clients. This involves:
  • Face to face client contact to gather the brief from the client, scope and design the research services in conjunction with the Research, Data & Analytics Manager.
  • Attend briefing of external technical experts where appropriate.
  • Delivery of research services and the presentation of research findings back to clients in a range of formats: written reports, infographics and presentations.
  • Deliver a KPI monitoring service: collect, collate, analyse and report KPI data to external clients.
  • Enquiry services - to provide an enquiry service to Members, external and internal customers. This includes responding to enquiries and conducting standards-related subject searches using a range of print and online resources to agreed standards and deadlines.
  • Development of the research services - Improvement of the research services in collaboration with Research, Data and Analytics Manager.
  • Identification of new data sets and content sources that could provide insight for clients and members.
  • Exploration of new channels for communicating with clients, particularly through new digital formats and platforms.
  • Identification of new methods of presenting research findings back to clients.
  • Support scoping and use of innovative technology to evolve enquiry services.
  • Support mapping of customer journey and improvement identification.
  • Maintain and update process documentation, work instructions and other tools to support the smooth operation of the Standards Data research services.
  • Work proactively with the Research, Data and Analytics Manager and the Digital Product and Content teams to optimise the build of a new comprehensive database of standards.
  • Actively look for opportunities presented by new technology and tools for knowledge sharing and collaboration.
  • Create well-designed and intuitive visuals for commissioned research and divisional purposes, developing novel visualisations to meet emerging needs and opportunities.
  • Provide an informed research perspective on relevant projects throughout the business.

Why you will be hired

To be considered for this role you will require:

  • Degree level or equivalent
  • Experience of delivering complex research projects.
  • Customer-focused (internal & external), with a consultative approach to understanding requirements and issues.
  • Experience of data analysis, bibliographic database and internet searches.
  • Experience of working directly (face to face and remotely) with clients on research briefs, the design of research services and the delivery and presentation of commercial research projects.
  • Experience of delivering complex research projects.
  • Experience of identifying process and service improvements and implementing these in collaboration with others.
  • Experience of working cross-functionally and effectively sharing knowledge with colleagues.
  • Experience of developing user-friendly, narrative-oriented charts using Tableau, Flourish, Datawrapper or similar, with knowledge of design principles and a creative approach to representing data visually.
  • Research skills, with ability to provide insight and overviews from large data sets.
  • Experience using SQL, Python or R to extract, clean and analyse data, especially text data.
  • Proven ability to engage successfully with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Excellent presentation skills (verbal, written and formal)
  • Confident, calm and assured decision-maker.
  • Attention to detail.
