Somerset Passenger Solutions are currently looking for a Senior Data Analyst to support on the generation, delivery and analysis of information and conversion data, and business intelligence strategy for the business.

Summary of role and duties:

  • Ensure that information is available in consistent, clear, appropriate and meaningful forms with accuracy and attention to detail to support service delivery, decision making, planning, business development and reporting.
  • Drive a relentless approach to setting and meeting data intelligence standards and improving data quality within the business.
  • Help build an \'information-literate\' business where staff have the skills to create, manage and interpret key information that supports day to day business and long-term planning.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including the internal departments of SPS, NNB, other Tier 1 contractors.
  • Ensure the effective operation and development of key data-management and information systems critical for performance reporting, contract management, audit, and development.
  • Manage the timely and accurate production of this information to support a variety of reporting requirements to both the SPS Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and the client.
  • Support the development of junior analysts and admin quality improvement facilitators providing a customer-focused, expert service to the business to enable a range of effective key decision making.
  • Engage with key internal and external stake holders to promote and develop information, audit and analysis solutions to assist the development, delivery and quality assurance of services.
  • Help further develop and build meaningful Company and team dashboards.

Operational Information Management

  • Facilitate the provision of information to SPS, NNB and operational managers to improve their business management and decision making, through collaborative design or procurement of reports and system tools.
  • Direct managers in the review, resolution and correction of all data quality issues, both internally and externally identified.
  • Ensure that reports produced within the department are of the highest quality, ensuring that validation checks exist at all stages of production and that all processes adhere to SPS, NNB and other authoritative data standards.
  • Manage the production of data sets and other external information exchanges.
  • Develop and deliver formal, financial or analytical presentations to senior managers providing information and technical concepts clearly and persuasively.
  • Handle difficult queries, including the interpretation and resolution of information, from internal and external sources, co-ordinating timely responses on behalf of SPS and analysing issues, appropriate actions and clarifying responses to suit the customer\'s level of understanding.

Essential Qualifications/Knowledge

  • IT literate (Office 365) and advanced skills in Excel and SQL skills. Experience with BI tools such as Microsoft BI platform, Power BI/ Tableau, Business Objects.
  • Degree desirable in relevant subject or a minimum of 3 years relevant and equivalent experience.

  • Proven experience of working in a high performing team to achieve challenging targets
  • Experience of successful performance in a dynamic and challenging environment
  • Strong ability to reason under uncertainty, combine analytical thinking with contextual knowledge and use critical thinking to extract and interpret information from data.
  • Experience of co-ordinating multi-disciplinary teams to develop and successfully implement projects.

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Demonstrable experience of working with Board level and senior management colleagues.
