About the role:

Reporting up into the Head of Visualisation and Analytics. The senior data analyst (SDA) will focus on the creation of dashboards and curation of data within Google Big Query. This is used by data science and insight teams across the organisation. Currently the business intelligence team uses queries built in Google Big Query to understand loyalty and customer engagement across the Reach sites. Dashboards are created within Tableau predominantly however there are numerous Data Studio reports in production. It is preferred you have knowledge of Data Studio as Tableau training can be provided, knowledge of both platforms is a bonus. There are numerous data initiatives the wider BI team are working on, one of which is the creation of an Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW). Your work with the customer page view data will be one of the many feeds into the EDW and customer data lake.
Key Responsibilities:

You will be the focal point of contact for page view activity within the BI team and across the organisation, building out Loyalty dashboards and improving the insights analysis through Google Big Query. The key responsibilities of the role are detailed below:

  • You will liaise with technical and non-technical staff in order to understand the data landscape, analyse, and prioritise key data processes
  • Create direct channels of communication between the business and data team that facilitates the creation of the curated data sets within GBQ without managerial interjection
  • Using your ability to understand data you will highlight and flag potential impacts to data pipelines in use further up the field within the EDW, Tableau Dashboards etc.
  • You will need to capture and investigate data to determine its viability for reporting alongside the business requirements
  • Use of analytical tools such as Google Analytics to better understand trends or tracking outages
  • Use a combination of Google Analytics, Google Big Query
  • Athena (Data Lake) data sources to provide insights to the wider business
  • Create visualisation and dashboards that can be used by a wider audience that range in their data maturity levels
The Ideal Candidate:
  • Degree-level education Computer Science or Information Management, or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years as a data analyst working with data teams, ideally focused on work in or around data including Google Analytics, Google Big Query
  • Good knowledge and use of the following platforms; Google Big Query, Google Analytics, GCP, Google Tag Manager
  • Proficiency in R or Python, mainly used for GA automation scripts and further analysis
  • Good knowledge and use of Data Studio, bonus if knowledge of Tableau as well
  • Ability to work effectively remotely and resourcefully, with excellent remote management and communication skills
  • Experience of working in an AGILE fashion
  • Detailed analytical abilities focused on content consumption and Customer interaction patterns and frequencies
  • Excellent people, communication and negotiation skills at all levels
  • Should possess excellent analytical and decision-making skills with the experience/ability to prioritise based on benefit/value
  • Understanding of Data Analytics best practices.
  • Experience working in media, publishing, or related industries is a plus
