Systems Engineer ( Data Analyst)

We are looking for a Systems Engineer (Data Analyst) who has a strong interest in the alternative energy sector to join our friendly and innovative London team. You will be joining at an exciting stage in our company's development and will play a key and trusted role in our technology department.

Overview

Plastic Energy is at the forefront of converting non-recyclable "End-of-Life" plastics waste into high grade oils for making clean recycled plastics. Our company mission is to play a significant role in solving the global plastic problem, and to be world leaders in chemical recycling.

You will be responsible for:

  • Developing automated tools to extract data from primary and secondary sources

  • Developing and maintaining databases, data systems - reorganising data in a readable format
  • Performing analysis to assess quality and meaning of data
  • Filter Data by reviewing reports and performance indicators to identify and correct code problems
  • Using statistical tools to identify, analyse, and interpret patterns and trends in complex data sets that could be helpful for diagnosis and prediction
  • Preparing reports for management stating trends, patterns, and predictions using relevant data
  • Working with engineers, operations, and management heads to identify process improvement opportunities, propose system modifications, and devise data governance strategies
  • Work closely with the R&D team to interpret and analysis polymer research data
  • Work closely with the Process and Automation teams in the development of simulation models and digital twin concepts

Skills

  • Proven work experience in data analysis
  • University degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science or related field

  • Data transfer protocols (e.g.: REST, MQTT, OPC UA, etc)

  • Strong mathematical skills to help collect, measure, organise and analyse data
  • Knowledge of programming languages like SQL, R, MATLAB, Python, C#, C++, HTML, Javascript
  • Technical proficiency regarding database design development, data models, techniques for data mining, and segmentation
  • Knowledge of data visualisation PI software like Tableau, Qlik, PowerBi
  • Knowledge of how to create and apply the most accurate algorithms to datasets in order to find solutions
  • Problem-solving skills
  • An understanding of chemical processes will be an advantage
