Junior Sales Trader - Renewable Energy
An excellent opportunity for a junior analyst with starting experience in risk/hedging topics, to join a progressive renewable energy firm in central London.

Supporting the Sales Trader you will be tasked with carrying out analysis necessary to support the hedging and management of the businesses exposure to the market price risks whilst at the same time delivering 1st class customer support to external clients and stakeholders.

A challenging position you will need to balance the demands and requirements of customers and completing transactions/hedging activities under time pressure, while also allocating sufficient time to any analytical work necessary to support these activities.

Key responsibilities will include:

- Carry out wholesale market trading activities to hedge the Market Price Risk associated with core Retail Sales and contracts.
- Maintain and develop relationships with flexible customers and provide wholesale market information to key customers - ongoing liaison to ensure that prices offered to customers are valid.
- Carry out and capture power transactions with the internal ETRM system and liaise with customers.
- Aid in the reconciliation of daily P&L figures to ensure the swift resolution of trade related queries and maintain the highest standards of trade entry. Ensure that trades remain in line with credit limits.
- Assist with providing information/advice on general market conditions including possible scenarios for future price movements.
- Work with other teams to create new products to increase Sales opportunities and higher-margin bespoke products.
- Work with internal systems and other departments to improve Sales Trading processes, making them more robust and timely.
- Work to improve mutual understanding of the respective areas and Sales Trading, to both improve company knowledge and functional interactions that could improve the business.
- Other ad hoc projects and analysis as necessary from time to time.

Ideal qualifications, skill sets and experience:

- Strong academic background with a numerical degree (mathematics, engineering, etc.)
- Experience in a risk related role, ideally within energy or other commodities
- Excellent and professional communication skills
- Knowledge of the principles and concepts of the UK electricity market, infrastructure and key players
- Strong analytical skill sets, Excel and VBA minimum
