Market systems business/data analyst
Description

What is the purpose of this role?

We are currently seeking a dynamic individual to join our Wholesale market services (WMS) department which facilitates the delivery of our business\'s market obligations. We enable the sale of services to all companies licensed to operate in the water markets; this equates to over £400m of revenue that is managed within the team.

As a keen analyst, you will work alongside our internal business users to collate business and information requirements and translate these into improvements for the market systems team.

This role will require you to monitor, analyse, interpret, report and audit data flows between internal systems and the Open Water Market in order to continuously drive operational efficiencies, automating process wherever possible. By doing this, you will also identify issues through these methods, and lead resolutions through appropriate process change and stakeholder engagement.

What will this role involve?

Lead business analysis to enhance the resilience and performance of market systems and share accountability for effective integration of improvements.

Ensure Market transactional integrity is maintained through process and system improvement, analysis and stakeholder engagement.

Understand existing business processes and combine this knowledge with own expertise to define future state business processes, functional and non-functional requirements, and systems goals.

Provide relevant and effective operational data analysis and interpretation by applying modelling and analysis tools. Design and deliver workshops, questionnaires, use-case scenarios and other business and data analysis methods.

Create process models, specifications, diagrams and charts to elucidate and provide direction to WMS systems enhancement, development and change.

Ownership of issues from identification to completion, including proactive, holistic monitoring, spot-fixing data busts and recommendation of appropriate changes.

Develop subject matter expertise regarding WMS Market Systems, their associated business planning and key reporting processes.

Work with the WMS Solution Architect to assess current solution capabilities and define and design customers\' functional requirements.

Liaise with Thames\' Digital (IT) colleagues and carryout impact assessments for any Digital Program Solutions which may impact WMS. Validate designs with stakeholders to ensure that the designs satisfy the requirements.

What skills are we looking for?

Do you have experience in a similar role and are confident working with people, processes and systems, especially via SQL? Do you possess a good understanding of business change management and information modelling? If the answer is yes, we\'re keen to hear from you!

We are seeking a customer focused analyst who has the drive and accountability to push this role into providing effective and insightful business tools. You will engage with all levels of the business, and have ability to translate technical language into understandable terms. The successful applicant will have functional and technical understanding of relevant (modules of) strategic applications.

As well as strong numerical and analytical skills, and experience using effective data analysis methods and techniques, you will have expertise in Microsoft Office and SQL. Experience of Microsoft Dynamics and manipulating data in Infosphere would be beneficial.

This role is based in Reading, with a salary of up to £51k depending on skills and experience.
