Master Data Analyst

What it's about

The Master Data Management (MDM) team in Business Technology Services is responsible for ensuring the quality and integrity of the Master Data that drives our key operational systems: Product, Customer, Vendor and Financial Services data are all in-scope.

We are at an early stage of building our MDM capabilities. The team is embarking upon an exciting programme of change, covering technical, data governance and data quality services and the rollout of MDM technologies, and we are seeking up to two experienced, technically competent Analysts to join our team. The Master Data Analyst role is a new, specialist function: it will focus on maintaining aspects of the Master Data; assuring the data quality through programmed analysis routines; driving business change towards the adoption of industry-standards for Master Data Governance, and the rollout of a new Master Data Management application.

What you'll be doing

Our Master Data Analysts are specialists. They focus on the core disciplines of data analysis, data management, governance, and quality of master data, and work cross-functionally across all operational IT systems, business streams and senior data owners to ensure the integrity and consistency of master data according to industry standard best practices, leading to error-free operational processing. They play a key role in the definition and deployment of our data management technology solutions, working with users to define requirements and blueprint new ideas. During all this, they balance delivery of an excellent customer service in carrying out requests for master data changes.

What we're looking for

The MDM department bridges the gap between IT and the business, and an ability to work with customers and convey complex topics in simple terms is essential.

As an ideal candidate, you will already have a detailed knowledge of master data and be able to write data interrogation routines in a number of technologies ideally including SAP BODS. You will be highly analytical, have strong mathematical skills, and you are curious and inquisitive. You will pay attention to detail, communicate well and be highly organised. You will enjoy both the day to day management of the data, and taking a longer term view to manage the developments. You will take pride in understanding the data and providing insight and analysis through clear visual, written and verbal communication.

You will drive forwards significant elements of our MDM technology change programme. You will enjoy modelling new solutions, working with technology experts and users to blueprint new systems solutions. You will have experience in business change and will enjoy putting practical governance and process solutions in place.

You will possess energy, drive, enthusiasm and determination, be able to think strategically and manage ambiguity in a complex, fast-paced environment.
