Senior Analyst

Description

This role will focus on two key areas: overhead line plan development and regulatory / technical reporting to Ofgem.
Our electrical overhead line network is extensive and requires detailed analysis and regular review of corporate data to ensure our delivery teams are provided with the most up-to-date assessment of the asset base. This requires the support of databases, analysis of datasets, and working with engineers in other functions to agree on future delivery plans.
The technical plans and reports that we produce must be translated into the regulatory accounting definitions & formats requested by the regulator, Ofgem. We have to ensure that our plans are efficient, that they're within the allowed budgets, and that any irregularities in this process are identified, managed and resolved.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

Preparation of prioritised investment plans for the overhead line asset base, covering 1-year, 3-year and longer term time horizons
Updating investment and maintenance plans on an ongoing basis (e.g. annually in accordance with the internal business planning timetable) to reflect current business priorities
Support the evaluation of the asset risk implications of programme constraints and ensures that these are effectively managed and communicated to relevant stakeholders
Providing advice and guidance to other Energy Networks departments to ensure that Price Review outcomes are understood and implemented effectively
Support in preparing presentations and responses to requests for information from internal and external bodies
Preparation of information for regulatory Price control Reviews, supported as necessary by rigorous analysis and documentation
Cultivate relationships with key external stakeholders and establish sound and effective working relationships with Energy Networks staff in other departments Requirements

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

Ability to devise solutions to complex problems & challenges
Familiarity with corporate IT systems and the manipulation of datasets
Excellent interpersonal, communication & negotiation skills
Ability to communicate complex concepts to both technical & non-technical audiences, verbally and in writing
Ability to consult others within the business, resolve differences and present a commonly agreed perspective
Effective management & prioritisation of work

MINIMUM CRITERIA

Professional qualification in engineering, accountancy, business or IT / analytics
Strong analytical skills
Practical experience in development and consolidation of planning information. Experience within a business planning / investment / financial function preferable.
Knowledge and experience of corporate financial and asset management systems
Expert user of MS Office Suite, specifically in MS Excel, with MS Access experience preferable.
Proven communication and teamwork skills
