University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust has recently been awarded the status of Global Centre of Digital Excellence and are leading an exciting programme to become paperless as a digital exemplar trust. We will be utilising additional investment from NHS England to boost our informatics strategy and enable us to deliver pioneering applications to support patient care and medical research.

We have a range of challenging projects to deliver including 'WhatsApp' for Clinicians, device integration and wearable technology and digital imaging solutions, and are expanding our existing team to support this programme.

The senior database analyst will join the Systems Development Team who take the lead in developing and managing key parts of the Trust's IM&T strategy, helping develop and maintain a variety of predominantly web-based applications. This is a full life cycle development role offering the opportunity to work with key stakeholders to define requirements, develop and test solutions right through to providing post implementation support and enhancement.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced DBA/analyst/developer, with a proven background in supporting RDBMS and the ability to take a leading role in developing and maintaining a range of different database environments to support business requirements. You will be looking for a role where you have real input into defining technical solutions and potentially to mentor / manage a small team. We also offer excellent formal training opportunities

In addition to a broad range of technical knowledge, you will have practical experience in:
•Oracle
•MS SQL Server
•SQL experience
•General server management
•Programming/4GL
•Analysis skills
•Service desk management and processes

Dependent on your skills and experience, the positions will be offered as either agenda for change band 6 (£26,565 - £35,577) or band 5 (£22,128 - £28,746), with the potential to progress to band 6 on the successful achievement of certain personal development targets.
